Forefoot

The forefoot is the anterior (front) part of the foot, consisting of a person’s five metatarsal bones, fourteen phalanges (toe bones) and their associated soft tissue. It is the site of common foot problems like hallux valgus (bunions) and Morton’s neuroma. The forefoot does not include the heel and ankle area, nor does it include the midfoot, which is where the metatarsal bones that make up the arch of the foot are fused together into a single mass of bone.
